before Lincoln was one of the worst Presidents we have had. A man partially responsible for the Civil War.

But if the reference was an attempt to make Lincoln's shining legacy just look impressive in comparison to Buchanan's, I think it's off the mark. Lincoln is beyond compare...

In the film when Lincoln is describing the ideology of equality using the mathematics of Euclid to the two telegraph operators.....
"When things are equal to the same thing, they are equal to each other."

But I also see your point. What Abraham Lincoln went through during this time in our history, is not equal to what Trump WANTS to go through. Lincoln was a man of deep empathy and principle. He had a way of getting his point acrossed without vilification. Donald Trump is not and NEVER will be anything like Lincoln. The Republican Party today is not the party of Lincoln. Like Trump, they abandoned their principles of putting others first before themselves for the reverse.

"We have ours. The rest of the country can go to hell in a hand basket. "
Sad.
