I don't know how many times I have seen it. What a majestic figure he was.
How did we go from him to Trump ?
I feel like getting drunk and it's only 8:00 A.M. and I don't even drink.

(33,545 posts)before Lincoln was one of the worst Presidents we have had. A man partially responsible for the Civil War.
Edit nvm. Read that a little too fast. You were referring to the President before Lincoln.

(66,307 posts)But if the reference was an attempt to make Lincoln's shining legacy just look impressive in comparison to Buchanan's, I think it's off the mark. Lincoln is beyond compare...

(16,781 posts)In the film when Lincoln is describing the ideology of equality using the mathematics of Euclid to the two telegraph operators.....
"When things are equal to the same thing, they are equal to each other."
But I also see your point. What Abraham Lincoln went through during this time in our history, is not equal to what Trump WANTS to go through. Lincoln was a man of deep empathy and principle. He had a way of getting his point acrossed without vilification. Donald Trump is not and NEVER will be anything like Lincoln. The Republican Party today is not the party of Lincoln. Like Trump, they abandoned their principles of putting others first before themselves for the reverse.

Sad.
