The good, conservative, "christian" people of Alabama soak up about $4.00 in federal aid for every $1.00 they pay in taxes. I have never understood the willingness of people from, say, New York, to subsidize almost all the highway and bridge building and repair in Alabama, while having to pay tolls to cross their own bridges or drive through their own tunnels. It totally makes no sense.
