When she gets home the furniture has been re-arranged, carpets shampooed, pictures hung, paint touched up.

And I started hanging Xmas lights last night.

We lost six close family members in seven years, we haven't done much celebrating in the last few years.

But we're going to celebrate this year, I don't believe myself but it doesn't mean I can't celebrate the love of family or respect others beliefs and get in the spirit of the season.

No bah humbug in my house.

Prior to that, I would start decorating the day after Thanksgiving, and put up the (real, not plastic) tree one week before Christmas. I love Christmas, the excitement, the decorations, the traditions, being with family...I hope I never grow too old or too jaded to be cynical about it.

I will be home next week, I suspect my parents will want to go get a tree while I'm there.
