I have a question about ethics investigations/inquiries

Are the witnesses under oath to tell the truth?

If so, then Franken is pretty smart about requesting the investigation/inquiry.

Although with the track record that the reTHUGliCONs have shown regarding the truth lately, being under oath will hardly make a difference.

I'd like to see Franken INSIST on an investigation regardless of when the incident took place. lamp_shade Nov 2017 #6

In such an investigation, will the accuser also have to testify? If true, I suspect she doesn't want to.

that particular USO performance company. The truth will come out. It's probably the reason Tweeden so readily accepted Franken's apology. There was really never anything to see except juvenile and boorish behavior, but her accusation was certainly useful to distract from Moore and the ongoing Russia investigation.

in the past the ethics committee has refused to investigate if the offenses happened before the accused became a Senator. Her example was Vitter. Ethics refused to investigate because his offenses happened when he was in the House . If they treat Franken the same way there might not be an investigation. Menendez though would qualify.

NeverTrump conservative John Podhoretz doesn’t think anything will happen.

I've had a suspicion that it is a "shiny object over there" quasi-distraction.

Franken did something stupid and crass and is man enough to have owned up to it, unlike the pedos and perverts that riddle the reTHUGliCON Party.

She started this mess (or Stone or whoever paid her) and, in fairness to Franken, she should be forced to testify.

And I want them to call all USO staffers that were there and question them as well as Roger Stone.

A post here yesterday claims that he said he saw the photo 10 years ago. If that is the case, why did he sit on all these years, including through Franken's two Senate races? I smell a ratfucking, and I hope they do investigate.

and a guard or staffer who was there that the picture was staged and everyone was having fun.

Nothing about this story makes sense. Now apparently, after accepting his apology and saying no ethics investigation needed, Tweeden is saying ethics investigation isn't enough?

I'm not saying it was appropriate and we should be inclined to believe the women, but this whole case is bizarre. She's a birther, rabid Trump supporter, has been on Sean Hannity 17 times and even showed him this picture years ago without saying anything. She approved of the skit and the kiss. And Roger Stone managed to know about it ahead of time?

It all just seems like a distraction/set-up to me.
