The U.S. dollar dropped Friday on jitters over a report that U.S. special counsel Robert Muellers probe into Russian election interference has made its first official order for information connected to President Donald Trumps campaign.
That drop for the greenback reversed some of the gains the currency logged Thursday after the House voted in favor of the Republican-led U.S. tax overhaul.

Whats moving the market?
The fresh bout of dollar weakness followed a report by The Wall Street Journal Thursday that special counsel Robert Muellers team had issued a subpoena to President Donald Trumps campaign in mid-October.
Mueller, who is investigating whether Trump associates colluded with Russian efforts to meddle in the presidential election, requested Russia-related documents from more than a dozen top officials, the report said.

(7,888 posts)What havoc will rump's pick for leader of the Fed have on the fragile retirement investments in the market? In my dreams, I foresee another Greenspan moment of those claiming "they did not predict the pervasive greed that would lead to a market collapse". I hope it is just another nightmare not reality. imo

(15,408 posts)Which goes to show you that investors (stock holders) will get the savings, not workers. Everyone is pouring money into the market right now in anticipation to the tax cut going to dividends.
BTW, 401k accounts are for us rubes as evidenced by the fact that we don't get the capital gains rate on our investment like the rich do.
it is still a great way to save money if you have no discipline like me.

(5,810 posts)But it has taken all of the Obama years (8) through the present. For geezers like us, I am not sure we can take another hit and then wait for the recovery. It is nerve racking to have to hope that things stabilize and some of us little guys dont have our financial future destroyed. Some of tRumps most ardent supporters will get swept up in the debacle if the collapse happens. Wonder what they will think of their man then?
