He put it into a trust and his trustee sold it when it was losing money.

There was a a drought in 75, 76 and Billy was a terrible manager and was taking money out of it.

The reality is that Jimmy did an amazing job getting a profit out of it and when it went into a blind trust his management touch was eliminated.

The farm was sol in 1979, Carter was elected 76. Post has a good story about it but I can't link on my phone.

blind trust the Republicans still had a Special Prosecutor go after him because of Billy associating with Libysns.

What Trump is doing is a million times worse.

He received no information on how it was doing until he returned to Georgia and it was then that he learned, due to mismanagement and several years of drought, he was deeply in debt. The Carters nearly lost their home over this - a house that Carter had helped to build himself. He was able to sell the Carter Warehouse to pay off most of the debt.
