THEN, when it happened again we turned down the opportunity. Both of those whataboutisms actually matter because 20 yrs later some are still resisting and refusing to take some instances seriously.
We still hear the thong defense and demonize and discredit women turning the focus on the "victimized" man rather than listening to what women have experienced. The mindset that responds that protective way over and over again to the benefit of predators will ensure perpetuation if social and economic gender inequalty.
