How long before we see changes in speeds and access? What can we set up? Do we boycott companies like netflix and amazon to force them to put pressure on the FCC and FTC? Do we stop buying and bring the economy to a halt?

(15,295 posts)And bringing the economy to a fucking halt should have been the reaction to Donnie Short Fingers in the White House.
By now, I thought we'd be up to pitchforks and guillotines in the public squares.
But hey, if it takes a slow connection to Netflix to finally get people's attention, I'll take it!

(1,606 posts)(Hoping NN is saved) anyway, the big ones like Netflix can afford to pay the cost, hence we hear nary a fuckin peep from major sites to raise awareness.

(6,288 posts)Sen Franken has been fighting for 1st Amendment & Net Neutrality a long time.
Trump intends to end it.
This is why he is being targeted via the typical RW smear campaign that they use on everyone who threatens their agenda for total power.
This was Sen Franken back in July, 2014

(29,554 posts)trust each other together and have some retired guy like me take in all the bills, pay them in cash and get receipts. If the bill is $101.09 pay it with 100 singles, four quarters and nine pennies. If the next bill is $19.04, pay it with a Benjamin, and so on.

(11,686 posts)Will what we say be even more closely monitored than now? How long until they make internet basically unavailable unless you have a lot of money? I see this as an attack somewhere within it on freedom of speech or becoming an attack eventually. Is it going to take us back to dial up speed? Will we be overloaded with advertisements? Will costs go up for simply ordering things on line? Are we totally screwed as far as all of our internet freedom?

(61,690 posts)can do to start preparing for it.
It might be that we will need to post fewer pics, videos, and even smilies to keep the site downloading quickly enough for those who cannot afford high speed.
A lot of people work from home. Can we write off internet expense or did the Rs remove that business deduction? Can you imagine spending $1500 a year just for internet service?

(11,686 posts)Basically I would be isolated from the world except my cell phone and I am sure that is next. A lot of Americans will be isolated and I bet you that is one of their main goals.

(11,686 posts)This is not including the decreased basic cable my apartment complex has. I fear how much it will be if they up the internet to 125 just for internet. I will have to cancel TV and land line.

(15,546 posts)was conceived, created and perfected using tax dollars. We should be demanding free, high speed internet access for everyone. Hell, we paid for it!
Ilsa
(61,690 posts)My understanding is that other nations pay less than half what we pay, and it's for the highest speeds.

Healthcare - NO
Political freedom from Corporate domination and Oligarchy - probably way down on the list
Economic Equality - Are u kidding? Do you have to ask?
And I should have added in addition to the above Sexual Maturity and relations between the sexes. I'd assume Finland and Iceland whomp us among others on that. We may be last with our Evangelical Prudism, Corporate Male powerplays and (not going to name the 3rd but it figures in there for pushback).

(94,333 posts)Nobody was throttling access speeds for specific sites BEFORE net neutrality was passed; let's not imgaine what will happen until it does.
Now, if it DOES happen, the simplest action is...take your business elsewhere. Most people seem to think they have no options, but most markets have far more options than you're aware of: http://www.dslreports.com/

(58,785 posts)cable server is available in our area. And we can't afford to maintain a second server also.
I'm sure this is not only about profits. It will be used as a form of seizing the radio stations. That's not panic, it's awareness.
