Conservatives drink Coka Cola vs. Liberals drink Pepsi

Video at site below where Alex Jones nails it:--

ALEX JONES (HOST): He (the Los Vegas shooter) drank Pepsi. And again liberals, I mean literally conservatives do not drink -- especially in the Obama era -- conservatives drink Coca-Cola, if you drink soft drinks, liberals drink Pepsi. That’s a big clue.

Dammit, I do like Pepsi.

.

Because California has strict food regulations, Pepsi only sold the reformulated version there.

The rest of the country got the carcinogen formulation.

Meanwhile, Coke reformulated for the entire country.

A 2011 article:

In 2011, the state of California created a problem for the soda industry.

The caramel color that Coke and Pepsi used to give colas that distinctive brown hue contained a chemical, 4-methylimidazole — 4-MEI — that is listed as a carcinogen by the state.

And in accordance with California's Proposition 65 law, the levels of 4-MEI found in sodas would have warranted a cancer warning label on every can sold in the state.

So, as I reported last year, Coke and Pepsi both said they would switch to a reformulated caramel color, one that did not contain 4-MEI.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2013/07/03/198040172/coke-changed-caramel-color-to-avoid-cancer-warning-pepsi-in-transition

A 2014 article:

Consumer Reports is warning the caramel coloring that gives cola its brown hue may be dangerous in the levels its found in some popular soft drinks.

“There’s no reason why consumers should be exposed to an avoidable and unnecessary risk that can stem from coloring food brown,” toxicologist Dr. Urvashi Rangan, executive director of Consumer Reports’ Food Safety & Sustainability Center, said in a statement.

Researchers at the magazine tested dozens of cans and bottles from a variety of popular brands looking for levels of the artificial chemical used for coloring, 4-methylimidazole (4-MeI).
.
.
Initial tests of regular Pepsi found 24.8 micrograms and 174.4. micrograms of 4-MeI in cans sold in Calif. and N.Y. respectively. The next round of testing found 29.1 micrograms and 32.4 micrograms of 4-MeI in those states. Diet Pepsi tests showed similar results.

It is all poison, and has no value or nutrition in my world.

Part of a disgraceful and gluttonous addiction that is hoisted on people.

Water is pretty darned good stuff, and that doesn't mean you should buy throw away plastic bottles of water.

It needs to exist, so the President in name can continue to bloat himself with copious amounts of Coke and KFC.

That is the only good I can see in it all.

Remarkable.

The letter refers to the month;

A: Jan
B: Feb
C: Mar
D: Apr
E: May
F: Jun
G: Jul
H: Aug
J: Sep (note we skip I -- not sure why)
K: Oct
L: Nov
M: Dec

Then there are a bunch of numbers; you're just looking for the big one next to the letter. 7 stands for 2017, 8 for 2018, etc.

This is the production date, not the pull date. Plastic should be good for around six months. Cans for a year. Usually we pull them sooner for quality control purposes.

Wed Nov 22, 2017, 09:00 AM
Nov 2017

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/29/opinion/when-jim-crow-drank-coke.html

Candler began marketing the drink as “refreshing” rather than medicinal, and managed to survive the controversy. But concerns exploded again after the company pioneered its distinctive glass bottles in 1899, which moved Coke out of the segregated spaces of the soda fountain. Anyone with a nickel, black or white, could now drink the cocaine-infused beverage. Middle-class whites worried that soft drinks were contributing to what they saw as exploding cocaine use among African-Americans. Southern newspapers reported that “negro cocaine fiends” were raping white women, the police powerless to stop them. By 1903, Candler had bowed to white fears (and a wave of anti-narcotics legislation), removing the cocaine and adding more sugar and caffeine.

Coke’s recipe wasn’t the only thing influenced by white supremacy: through the 1920s and ’30s, it studiously ignored the African-American market. Promotional material appeared in segregated locations that served both races, but rarely in those that catered to African-Americans alone.

Meanwhile Pepsi, the country’s second largest soft drink company, had tried to fight Coke by selling its sweeter product in a larger bottle for the same price. Still behind in 1940, Pepsi’s liberal chief executive, Walter S. Mack, tried a new approach: he hired a team of 12 African-American men to create a “negro markets” department.

By the late 1940s, black sales representatives worked the Southern Black Belt and Northern black urban areas, black fashion models appeared in Pepsi ads in black publications, and special point-of-purchase displays appeared in stores patronized by African-Americans. The company hired Duke Ellington as a spokesman. Some employees even circulated racist public statements by Robert W. Woodruff, Coke’s president.
