It really is creepy. I used to live in Hollywood over 30 years ago, and I used to feel unnerved sometimes when I'd wander away from the neighborhood I lived in. It wasn't the people, it was just odd that there were so few people outside most of the time, and Hollywood would be nearly deserted on holidays.
But these car fires....it won't be just vandalism or arson one of these days--it'll be murder, and I'm sure most people are afraid of that very thing.

(62,683 posts)I don't think his area has been affected -- he's in NoHo. I'll ask, though.
Have their been any more fires?
EDIT to answer my own question -- apparently there have been other fires:

EDIT again because I'm reading the article and NoHo has been one of the areas targeted. I misunderstood it before -- thought they were confined to West Hollywood.
I'm going to call him now!

Glad to hear they are not centered on West Hollywood, as the first report I read stated. Not surprised to see that the South LA fires are not mentioned until the last paragraphs either....

(9,933 posts)There has also been an escalation in muggings, robbery and car theft. My friends car was stolen from right in front of her apartment two weeks ago. And our neighbor had his motorcycle stolen from his driveway. I'm sure none of this is due to a poor economy or budget cuts.

Sounds like a description of the film industry to me

Yes, some people and places are devious and back stabbers, but I met a lot of nice people though--a few of them are dead now, which says something.
