(26,251 posts)Where are the trees with stars and Manger scenes? And the color? Where is any color? Did it get sucked into the void in her soul?
Hekate
(90,565 posts)...is simply trying to artistically evoke the bare frozen branches of her homeland's winter forests. But for a festive holiday meant to be shared with the America, this certainly is depressing as hell.

(9,886 posts)the pagan representation of the day the sun fell out of the sky. Not only is there no Christ in this Christmas, theres no return from the solstice. The sun kept getting lower on the horizon until it disappeared altogether. Fire hasnt even been invented.

(81,127 posts)Looks like a nightmare to me. Looks like the Wicked Witch of the West redesigned the film set of the grand hall that you walked down (while trembling) to get to the Wizard of Oz's inner chamber. Does NOT look in ANY way Christmassy. I guess it does evoke a generic "Happy Holidays" response, since there's no Baby Jesus in there like all the Bill O'Reilly "War on Christmas" dim bulbs hyperventilate about every year.

(5,810 posts)It has zero holiday appeal. And no, I am not suggesting it needs red and green or even a manger scene to look appropriate for the holidays. We celebrate several holidays during this season. It does need something that says holiday. Not dark and dreary, cold and lifeless. But then maybe it reflects how Melania feels at this point in her life. OMG! What have I bargained for? Am I going down with this doomed ship? Will there be any money left for me after all of this is over?
Guess she should have thought of that before she entered into a contract with tRump. Didnt she notice that all of his former wives and most people who do business with him get screwed over in the end?
Id like to say I feel sorry for her. But I cant. She knew who he was long before she said I do.

(2,074 posts)That is a particularly unflattering picture with specific lighting that does not do justice to the actual decorations. I am certainly no fan of Melania, and although the above picture kind of reflects the misery of the Trump White House, the actual decorations are quite beautiful.

(16,950 posts)how much the color grey is available for Christmas decorations. Thats how much grey is still a popular home decoration theme/color. One store even had grey Christmas trees! Grey balls, candles, etc, and of course lots of silver which goes with the grey. And lots of winter snow with the grey.
I must admit I do love the grey for the house, but Christmas?? Not so much, and her design is just stark and horrible looking.

(10,130 posts)It looks as if Melania paid someone to come up with something unlike anything the White House has ever seen before - and they came up with something diametrically opposed to anything a normal human would. I can't picture the kids and grandkids playing around it.

(5,810 posts)I fully expect tRump to say that NO OTHER First Lady has ever spent time with kids at the White House. Making decorations, showing them the decorations in the White House. Having refreshments. It was all Melanias Idea. Thats because all the other First Ladies were heartless bitches.

(5,810 posts)But now and then, she shows a side of herself that is mostly kept stifled. Those pictures capture such a moment. So perhaps she does have a few redeeming qualities. 😉
Still, I find it hard to generate very much sympathy for her since she made this bargain with a truly evil man. Maybe in time, well learn more about why she did it, but love does not appear to be part of that equation. Unless it is love of money.....it is pretty obvious that love of money often is the motivating factor behind such marriages. He was a well known skunk and womanizer when they met and later married.

(3,166 posts)The pics do look a little cold, but the decor itself is beautiful. How much involvement did Melania actually have with this? I'm sure the White House has designers and decorators and curators who decide what most of the decor looks like. Some of the comments on these pics are hilarious, though!
