Fact Checker. Pence's claim that more Americans are working today than ever before in America

By Nicole Lewis November 28 at 3:00 AM

“There are more Americans working today than ever before in American history.”
— Vice President Pence, remarks during a speech at the Tax Foundation, Nov. 16, 2017

-snip-

The Pinocchio Test

The Trump administration has made a habit of taking credit for economic gains that have little or nothing to do with its policies. Pence’s claim that there are more Americans working today than ever before in American history might go down as one of the more ridiculous economic claims made by the administration.

Of course there are more Americans working. That’s because there are more Americans today than ever before.

More meaningful measures of the overall health of the job market take population into consideration. And both the labor force participation rate and the employment-to-population rate show there is still room for improvement following the Great Recession. Those rates peaked in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

We were tempted to say that Pence earns Four Pinocchios, but the numbers are technically correct. Yet they are so devoid of meaning that Pence and the people who applauded his statement should be ashamed.

Three Pinocchios

If there are “more Americans working today than ever before”, why is Trump running around talking about too many people on welfare and looking to gut welfare programs. Or is this just one of those things that just magically changed once Trump was elected POTUS?

females of all ages throwing themselves at the great orange emperor's feet during it's glorious entrance to the deary down trodden gates of the capitol city?

It's okay I didn't either. I saw one of the tiniest crowds show up. Oddly the next day was when all those women showed up, and they didn't look like they were there to praise the orange wanna-be.

Dead-eyes pence lies as much as his boss.

I was actually glad that he didn't run for a second term as Governor here in Indiana and instead hitched his "star" to what I thought was going to be the lost cause of Trump's candidacy for POTUS and then we would be totally rid of him politically, probably forever.

If everything is working great now without these things, than that means we probably shouldn't mess with success, amirite?

During last year's election, despite the economy pumping along thanks to President Obama's stewardship, Komrade Donnie was waltzing around the country essentially calling it a hellhole filled with shiftless welfare kings and queens demanding handouts, massive unemployment, and, average (white) people full of "economic anxiety". But now, approximately 10 months in with no major policy proposals enacted by Congress, including his own budget, everything is wonderful and fantastic, simply because a slim (electoral college) majority of the country gave him the keys to the WH. It's a miracle I tells you!!!
