(22,034 posts)While it is true that Mr. Olbermann has had troubles at all of his broadcast jobs, that isn't the case with his GQ videos. In the past, he has even poked fun at himself for this issue.
In his "final" GQ rant, he points out that he has done nearly 200 commentaries FOR FREE. He didn't blow up his gig. He said that he has said everything he needed to and now he's repeating himself. If he feels it's time for a break, I think he's earned it.
He'll be back.

(9,874 posts)I used to watch him every day back in his MSNBC days. He was terrific. But as I said, for some reason he flies off the handle in every job he has ever had and winds up either fired or leaving. That's why he was doing commentary for free, trying to rebuild his brand. I am betting that something else happened other than him wanting to "go back to his life". That sounds an awful lot like politicians who quit to "spend more time with their family".

(30,481 posts)I'm not saying that it's negative or positive. Just that we will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks. His tweet with reason for leaving made no sense at all.
