Allegations against Conyers test Democrats as third accuser comes forwardA former deputy chief of staff for Rep. John Conyers has accused the veteran Michigan Democrat of sexual harassment, the third such allegation against Conyers to surface this month.
..."I don't think he can survive this," said a senior Democratic aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "His family and his staff have done him a huge disservice by letting this go on as long as it has. He should have resigned long ago."
Deanna Maher, who ran Conyers Detroit field office from 1997 until 2005, told The Detroit News that the longtime congressman made three unwanted sexual advances toward her, including instances of inappropriate touching.
...Maher said her age she was 57 when Conyers allegedly harassed her the first time kept her from coming forward. Maher was fearful she would not be able to find new employment if she lost her job with Conyers. I didnt report the harassment because it was clear nobody wanted to take it seriously, said Maher, now 77. John Conyers is a powerful man in Washington, and nobody wanted to cross him.

They did report their issues years or decades ago and are now forbidden from disclosing the details of those settlements.
