I told my wife this perhaps to Canada or maybe to her family in Scotland or holland. After they graduate college for a better standard of living. GOP will destroy this country all for their wealthy masters.

Why not run your boys over to the nearest GOTV organization? Teach them to fight.

(58,785 posts)came back to rewrite, hopefully before you saw it, and just point out that every threat we have here is at work there also.
Between 1970 and now, the world's wealth quadrupled, and most of that went into the pockets of new centimillionaire and billionaire classes that pose existential threats to every government of, by and for the people on the planet. Not just ours. People so wealthy they can buy governments are fundamentally incompatible with one-man-one-vote democracy, and that's what's we're seeing.
I also really know how you feel. Our DIL is from Denmark, and under current law we could all move there. We've joked about that a time or two while listening to the news. But the law that allows it now would have changed if it came to that.

(58,785 posts)a number of relatives in Europe who'd stopped writing letters were presumably already in concentration camps. That was the year the death camps were started up in eastern Europe, and by the end of the war none of dozens were alive. Like your grandparents, my mother's parents read the writing and got out right before WW1.
Well, all the people who, hardly a day ago, elected Barack Obama are still here. Good article in the NYT about Trump's delusional "journeys into the real of manufactured facts" and "conspiracy theories." He's "immune to facts" that contradict what he wants to believe, a bizarre reflection of the craziness his followers have embraced. Hope more of the rest are paying attention.
