Where is our counter proposal tax bill?

The best way to underscore the flaws in the Pubs tax bill would be to offer our own. It also counters their claims of obstructionism. I think everyone can agree the current convoluted nightmare of tax regs and loopholes is an abomination. We need to show America what real tax reform should look like.

Why haven't we put forth our own proposal?

taxes changed under obama, the economy improved, and we've felt no great need for a change since then.

sure, we could come up with a more progressive plan that has zero chance of passing with all these republicans around, but there's little point in that. for the time being we're fine with tax policy as it is.

there's no need to put up a plan that can't pass, and no wisdom in giving republicans an easy target.

supporting current tax policy is a perfectly fine position for the time being.

Corporate tax code is riddled with loopholes that let certain companies duck paying their fair share

Middle class pays too much

The rich pay far too little

More can be done to help the poor

It's way too hard to do your own taxes, particularly if you itemize or have multiple incomes. Paid tax preparation should not be an $11 billion dollar industry

i agree that there are plenty of progressive changes i'd love to see after the 2020 election when we have the white house and both houses of congress

but right now, if we present a progressive alternative, it will only serve to kill the status quo as an alternative and it will become a "republican plan vs. democratic plan" and with republicans in charge of everything they will win easily.

our best shot right now by far is to advocate for the status quo until our representation has improved.
