Al Franken has been a target of conservatives, republicans, and RW for more than 3 decades.

It started with his attack on their icon in the media, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations".

Franken wrote a couple more books, taking aim at failed political philosophy, attacking patron saint, Ronald Reagan, and other republican officerholders in the House and Senate.

Franken then had a successful national radio program, three hours a day (against the timeslot for Limbaugh) five days a week for three years. He became bolder and bolder in his criticisms and attacks.

Finally, he not only ran for Senate in his native Minnesota, but attempted to continue the legacy of Paul Wellstone. In the Senate, Franken was almost restrained (for Franken) but continued to attack where necessary. Up until last month, he was vociferously attacking the end of Net Neutrality and "tax reform".

That voice has been neutralized -- unless Franken decides to stay in the Senate and doubles down.

We will see.

Anyway, Franken had to have been aware that he had a bull's eye on his back since Day One and I find it hard to believe he would be as reckless as it's been claimed.

I welcome a FAIR Ethics Committee hearing.

or so it seems. I hope Al Franken does not resign, but we will find out today.

He is one of the best voices we have in Washington. I see him as another Ted Kennedy.

But then, we tend to scuttle our own, don't we?

That him continuing in the Senate allows the Trumpers to do all sorts of awful things without anyone paying attention. Certainly that's been the Trump MO to date -- distract and destroy.

And that, consequently, Franken should take one for his side, and fall on the sword forged just-in-time for him by rightwing operatives.

But that comes under the heading of Franklin's, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" -- as that principle is re-translated in these days of Presidential pussy tapes.

Franken should not resign, and should tough it out through an ethics hearing, in which the accusations against him are likely to largely evaporate.

I want him to talk about every Republicans sexual “impropriety.
I want him to talk about false equivalency.
Talk about Moore.
Talk about Trump.
And, tell those that didn’t back you up to kiss your Minnesota arse.

This is absolutely on the mark. I'm calling my senators Schumer and Gillibrand today. Let the ethics investigation do its investigating and rather than torpedo your own boat call for an investigation into Trump's much more serious allegations.

It is a shock to see the Dems response to Franken. I just do not see the voters rewarding them for doing the right thing. By stopping the investigative process they give the GOP all reason to not investigate Moore if he is elected.

They're believing outright lies and half truths. And that can and should be proven. What the F is wrong with our party's leadership now?

since Shirley Sherrod, ACORN, and the 2000 and 2016 election scams, and the 2006 election when "impeachment was off the table." I'm not "bashing Democrats" just wondering why won't we fight back?????

We better learn to fight or we're dead.

I do wonder if they know something we do not. If they don’t, and he resigns, unless there never is further clarity to whether this is an orchestrated attack or is real, I will never give a dime again to the party. On one hand I still see a lot of holes in these stories. On the other, there are now eight accusations and he is not really defending himself except for a couple.

This has right-wing frame-up all over it. Karl Rove has always treated opponents that way - make baseless accusations about them, and they can't get their message out because they have to fight off the baseless accusations.

Franken should stay. This will blow over.

And Kamala Harris and the others who have prematurely called for him to resign? They don't get my money or my support when their crunch comes. And, if Harris runs for president in 2020, I won't support her in the primaries. Because her position on this is mean-spirited, ill-advised, and too easily manipulated by the right wing hate machine.

Got another Reich-wing Fwd.Fwd.Fwd. email the other day. Another poorly-written screed from Mark Steyn hitting on Warren and the now 5-year old "Pocahontas" slur, to which was added the 33-year old crap about her contribution of a recipe to a cookbook.

There's are reasons:
1. They HATE her for taking back the BILLIONS of dollars from their various frauds, and
2. She's up for re-election in 2018 and want to get a head start.

Another woman says Franken tried to forcibly kiss her

Source: Politico

A former Democratic congressional aide said Al Franken tried to forcibly kiss her after a taping of his radio show in 2006, three years before he became a U.S. senator.

The aide, whose name POLITICO is withholding to protect her identity, said Franken (D-Minn.) pursued her after her boss had left the studio. She said she was gathering her belongings to follow her boss out of the room. When she turned around, Franken was in her face.

The former staffer ducked to avoid Franken’s lips. As she hastily left the room, she said, Franken told her: “It’s my right as an entertainer.”

“He was between me and the door and he was coming at me to kiss me. It was very quick and I think my brain had to work really hard to be like ‘Wait, what is happening?’ But I knew whatever was happening was not right and I ducked,” the aide said in an interview. “I was really startled by it and I just sort of booked it towards the door and he said, ‘It’s my right as an entertainer.’”
