Mueller firing: Rapid Response...

NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW—MUELLER FIRING RAPID RESPONSE
Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.

This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.

Our response in the minutes and hours following a power grab will dictate what happens next, and whether Congress—the only body with the constitutional power and obligation to rein Trump in from his rampage—will do anything to stand up to him.

That's why we're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rallies around the country in the event they are needed.

Use the map or search below by ZIP code to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.

Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:

If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ 5 P.M. local time
If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day
This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.
This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let's mobilize to show that we won't let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it's essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.

Use the search tool to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.

If you choose to attend an event, you agree to engage in nonviolent, peaceful action, to act lawfully, and to strive to de-escalate any potential confrontations with those who may disagree with our values.

I am also sending this letter to my senators:
Dear Senator,

I am very concerned about possible consequences of Trump firing Mueller. Recently on TV, I saw the answers given by several Democratic congressional members if this happened.

They said the Dems and GOP members of Congress would take action to reinstate Mueller and protect the inquiry. But when pushed to answer what to do if the GOP doesn't help, their only response was that the American people would protest.

Is that truly the only remedy? Protests will surely happen but it cannot be the ONLY plan. Those opposed to this potential constitutional crisis must have a real, lawful plan ready to go if needed. The American people expect you to be prepared with a legitimate course of action. We need this.

I read recently that months before the impeachment of Clinton the GOP had researched and written up a plan of action for that event. Impeachment may not be possible for Trump. But this is an example of preparation for a serious future event.

One action may involve the 25th amendment yet, again, that requires the cooperation of the GOP. Their actions so far border on treason so what makes Dems think the Republicans will do the right thing?

You need a valid, sound, legal plan that does NOT rely on the cooperation of the GOP. So, I'm asking you what is your plan?

3. Millions and millions of people who would like to hit the streets will be working or in school.

There's many people that just can't be ready to turnout with a few hours notice.

This immediate show of force IS necessary, but there has to be non-stop marches on the weekends too when more people can show up.

If this treasonous rat-bastard finds a way to fire Mueller, the protests need to make the Woman's March look like a small town parade.

for a lot of people in cities, even if some can only stay a half hour. And, let's face it, if it happens there'll be a number of marches to join.

Know what you mean, though. And the closest announced rally is an hour and a half away from me, not counting finding, parking, getting to it. But I've noticed some group too obnoxious to actually join sometimes turns out in the closest small city. Suspect this'll be one of those times, just have to start googling. They'll be chatting somewhere.

7. Likewise for me! I live in a very remote area. Our entire County's population is just 16,000!

The nearest really large city is Seattle. (and Seattle REALLY rocked it last January. Man did they EVER! )

But getting there means an hour and a half ferry ride and a 70 mile trip South on a congested freeway.
I do have friends that made the trek to Seattle though and they were totally thrilled with the effort and energy!

BUT, here at home there was a fantastic turnout in our small little town (population 2,200 people) that FILLED the streets! It seemed like the entire town turned out! (very liberal place with typical 65%-35% spread favoring Dems)
We marched through town, starting at The American Legion Club, all down the Main drag and then finally to the Courthouse lawn! It gave me chills and tears.

So I DO expect a similar reaction here in my little town if Traitor-in-Chief pulls another Saturday Night Massacre.

I WILL BE THERE!

if it comes to it, and this time it would probably be a larger group than the one I joined over the ACA alone. Hope so. I'm sure there would be more than just one demonstration in any case, and also driving to a city with a lot of people taking to the streets would be an option.

reason for joining one of these planned events. But if the worst happened, even those might not be safe.

The Ferguson police department's extreme incompetence in handling demonstrations combined with the military weapons they decided to bring out against the people of Ferguson could be replicated in many communities, with worse outcomes.

Lifehacker has a bunch tips for demonstrating, including for people who expect to be on the front lines that go far past my experience of merely standing and walking in a peaceful crowd. How to dress and pack for a protest, know when to stay and when to leave. First advice, though, is to research before you go.

The ACLU offers information on knowing your rights. Again, know them before you go.

The F'n MORON still lives like a reality show host. That's when he would do the firing to dominate the Christmas day news, reduce the potential of protests.

That's the kind of savage, odious, and tyrannical thing we've come to expect from the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief and his cabal of republican & russian cronies.
