Secret clique in L.A. County sheriff's gang unit probed

Source: LAT

The investigation was prompted by the discovery of a document that suggests that the group, known as the Jump Out Boys, considers officer-involved shootings to be a badge of honor.

Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives have launched a probe into what appears to be a secret deputy clique within the department's elite gang unit, an investigation triggered by the discovery of a document suggesting the group embraces shootings as a badge of honor.

The document described a code of conduct for the Jump Out Boys, a clique of hard-charging, aggressive deputies who gain more respect after being involved in a shooting, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation. The pamphlet is relatively short, sources said, and explains that deputies earn admission into the group through the endorsement of members.

The sources stressed that the internal affairs investigation is still in its early stages and that little is known about the Jump Out Boys' behavior or its membership.

These morons form their own death squad and then write up a "mission statement". Any honest cop has to wish them ill, I would think.

10. It all depends. I generally prefer to deal with the Sheriffs rather than the various city cops.

But cops with issues are cops with issues, anywhere you run into them. LAPD, Glendale, and Pasadena I know to avoid. I had a very bizarre interaction with 2 LAPD cops when I was nine that really wised me up, the aggressive and hostile attitude, even to a naive little kid.

But I'm a white, well-off, older male, so I have no clue, really. I can remember when I was young and poor and got stopped and had to deal with cops, but that was a long time ago, and I was still a white kid.

I now live in a very mixed neighborhood, and I think that helps a lot. I feel safer here than anyplace I've been in LA.

But all you have to do is read the news and you can see some things have not changed at all, and the mental attitude of the police organizations in this country is one of them. They still see themselves as servants of the rich, whose job it is to control the non-rich and "keep order", they still think in terms of the money-based class system we pretend not to have.

Now we're being told it's a badge of honor to shoot first and ask question later?

Surely Protect and Serve means "protect and serve. . .your own!"

What better way to give yourself an excuse to shoot people than to volunteer for some anti-gang unit.

Wonder if Zimmerman ever had any wet dreams about joining an anti-gang unit in LA.

And the grammar school mentality. One wonders if they built a "fort" or "clubhouse" too.

Of course it could all be piffle, but I'm assuming that because it has seen the light of day like this, there is some substance to it.

Additional info.

'Jump Out Boys' is a phrase used to describe police, detectives, undercover officers, and other law enforcement personel.
More specifically the term refers to officers involved in sting opereations. (Narcotics, Prostitution, Organized Crime etc.)
The 'Jump Out Boys' are usually either the swat team, or the cops on stake outs inside the sound van, listening in on wire taps or wired informants. When tipped off, or alerted, these officers are known to jump out of the vehicle and subdue suspects by force, thus the term 'Jump Out Boys'.

They ride in unmarked vehicles, typically vans, trucks, and vehicles without windows.
Some gangs and/or squads are known tocall themselves 'Jump Out Boys' due to their simmilar, jump out style.
