Palestinians push back IS in Damascus camp: monitor

Source: France 24 02 April 2015 - 12H06 CET

DAMASCUS (AFP) -

Palestinian fighters and Syrian rebels retook control Thursday of large parts of a refugee camp in Damascus that had been seized by Islamic State group jihadists, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a number of armed groups in the Yarmuk camp in south Damascus "were able to regain control over all of the areas that IS had taken over."

"Syrian rebel groups entered the camp and helped the Palestinians push back IS in fierce clashes," said Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Observatory.

ISIS has again reversed the situation.
There now appears to be a three-sided war going on in the camp: Assad's loyalist troops, Syrian rebel forces and ISIS jihadis.

The desperate Palestinian refugies are caught in the middle.

ISIS fighters are said to be only a mile from the Presidential palace in Damascus.
