Mark Kirk will back Loretta Lynch, assuring confirmation

Attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch wont need Vice President Joe Bidens vote after all.
Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk, who was complimentary of Lynch after meeting with her last month, said at a Thursday event in Chicago that he would vote to confirm her.
He becomes the fifth Republican to publicly support Lynch, and with all 46 Senate Democrats expected to back her nomination, Lynch now has the votes to be confirmed without Biden coming to the Capitol to break a tie.
I am confident from my conversation with Loretta Lynch that she will be a valuable partner in confronting the gang violence that is robbing families of their children every day in Chicago, Kirk said in remarks given to POLITICO by his office. We need the help of the attorney general in fighting gangs of national significance through U.S. Marshals and prosecutors, and to address organized crime like drug and child sex trafficking.

(24,688 posts)maybe we will have someone prosecute the white collar criminals, like the hedge fund managers, wall street traders, governors (Christie) giving pension funds to managers as expense fees without telling the pensioners, and a governor who violated campaign finance laws(Walker) ---just a thought for starters.
But you need to get it on the floor for a vote and turtle lips (McConnell) is trying to circumvent the conference on climate change, and a nuclear deal with Iran (now that there is deal what's his next step---another letter from Cotton to sign), and attacking the social programs in this country, he doesn't think we need a AG right away, they (republicans) need bigotry to help there cause for more hate and fear

He already signed the Iran "letter." If he opposes this non-proliferation treaty, I will make sure he never steps foot in the Senate again.
