Pataki Blasts Indiana’s Religious Freedom Law

Source: NY State of Politics

As he considers a potential bid for president this year, former Gov. George Pataki on Thursday in a statement blasted Indiana’s controversial religious freedom law, which he called discriminatory.

“There is no place for discrimination in America,” Pataki said. “We have travelled too far together to be debating a law that allows people to be discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation.”

The comment comes as Pataki’s super PAC, We The People Not Washington, opens office space in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire while the Republican former three-term governor weighs his first campaign since 2002.

In his statement, Pataki indicated the law that has drawn a firestorm of controversy for Republican Gov. Mike Pence, another potential 2016 candidate, is a matter of civil rights.
