Newspaper Front Page Shames North Dakota Lawmakers Over Anti-Gay Vote

A North Dakota newspaper on Friday plastered across its front page the photos of every state lawmaker that voted down a measure that would have protected LGBT individuals from discrimination.

Fargo-based The Forum's provocative front page was published amid national outrage over Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which critics argued would allow business owners with religious objections to discriminate against gays and lesbians. Legislators in the Hoosier State later agreed to alter the law to specify that it cannot be used to defend discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

A bill that would have outlawed discrimination based on sexual orientation failed to pass Thursday in the North Dakota House by a vote of two to one, according to local TV station WDAY.

of 27 legislators who voted for gay inclusion. Not sure what that says to me, but it did get my attention. And not one minority n the whole bunch.

2. In all of my decades as a political junkie, I've never seen, as I recall, an issue so

emotionally loaded as LGBT issues, do almost a 180 over just a few days. Boggles my mind. It's a very personal issue for me with family members who came out Way Before it was kind of OK. But to see it catapult its way into the international news and call out the closet bigots...I'm good with it.

18. I Escaped. Grew up in western part of the State & whenever I returned to visit family,

I was ready to leave after 2 days. People do not evolve there. Churches, bars, drugs, guns & fishing & hunting. That's it.

Corrupt government all lining their big fat pockets with Coal & Oil Money.
Its one of the nastiest hateful Red States in the Nation.
They will just as soon buy you a bus ticket outta the State as help lift you up to stand on your own.

They have sold out to fracking, waste dumping, Diesel Plant toxin spewing. Oil & Gas industry.
The State Govt has taken a great big shit on the once pure prairie land and the stupid people of the State of North Dakota cheer and re-elect them because the politicians insert the words "abortion & gays" into every campaign speech they give.

Right-to-Life is huge there, and guns god & glory is a tradition that is never going away for a few more generations.

Pretty land but the most exclusive, hateful, mocking, homophobic, anti-woman, ignorant people I have ever been around in all my years.
As their government goes, so go the voters of that completely effed up State.

That's the way they like it & how they intend to keep it. I wouldn't advise anyone to move there.

Ignorance is bred into the disgusting population of that State.
