........The slaying happened early Easter Sunday, while White's younger brothers and others were in her St. Paul apartment. The 19-year-old had been excited to dress up her daughter and cook for her family for the holiday.

Now, Samirria White's 16- and 17-year-old brothers are "living through this, they're trying to figure out, 'Why did you hurt my sister?' " Shanta White said of her children. "I have no answers."

.......White, whose first name was pronounced "Sah-MAH-re-ah," graduated from Humboldt High School last year. She was involved in Junior ROTC, the prom-planning committee and was a cheerleader, Shanta White said.
................

White had obtained her certified nursing assistant license and dreamed of going to college to study forensic science. She worked hard to take care of her daughter, her mother said............

The young woman used to be a food-service employee at Episcopal Homes in St. Paul and, at the time of her death, took care of children at a school's before- and after-school program.............

Shootings during anger with guns usually pass me by of late-there are so many of them. An argument--someone gets angry and a gun is available. Bang. One physical live lost but some many left to bear the pain. Seems on top of it all this was domestic violence -even though the man to shot the young mother does not appear to be living with her (not that I can discern).

He shot her in the face--from a few inches away according to the story with a gun he had purchased just recently.

Honestly, this story could be written as a fill-in-the-blank exercise. The same story will play out again before long, only with different names. Young man with a gun from a poor part of town with more babies than brains, carries a gun, a young girl trying to be a woman, a series of low-paying jobs but lots of "dreams." I missed the part about where Dmitri graduated high school and where he is employed. Oh wait........

Samirria White, 19, is seen with her daughter, Damirria, who was born in early January 2015. White loved being a mother and her daughter was her world, her family says. (Photo courtesy of family)

If you own a gun, it is 13 times more likely to be used on you or yours than any external threat.

However, the "we don't need no statistics cuz we got them guns" crowd is clueless.
