Mitt Romney Sweeps GOP Primaries, Promises 'Better America'

Source: huffingtonpost

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney laid claim to the fiercely contested Republican presidential nomination Tuesday night with a fistful of primary triumphs, then urged all who struggle in a shaky U.S. economy to "hold on a little longer, a better America begins tonight."

Eager to turn the political page to the general election, Romney accused President Barack Obama of "false promises and weak leadership." He declared, "Everywhere I go, Americans are tired of being tired, and many of those who are fortunate enough to have a job are working harder for less."

The former Massachusetts governor spoke as he swept primaries in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York, the first since Rick Santorum conceded the nomination.

"Everywhere I go, Americans are tired of being tired, and many of those who are fortunate enough to have a job are working harder for less."

Seriously, if any journalist digs out actual facts, it will prove that the average worker does NOT fare better under the GOP. In fact, it is exactly the type of work that Romney's firm did that resulted in job losses and working harder. They love high unemployment. No matter how much shit they pile on, they will always find someone to do it for less.

I'm sure the Obama campaign will be all over this.

6. Romney Did Nothing Tonight To Help His Likeability

His speech tonight was mean spirited, start to finish. Also odd in that he chose to proclaim "we are not stupid". Who called Romney "stupid"? Did I miss something. That is the sound bite that will come out of tonight's speech and it was not well thought out.

How many other unforced errors will Romney commit during the course of the campaign. While Chuck Todd liked Romney's speech I saw little there to attract the moderate voters Romney needs. He as much as said he will not be a nice guy and the negative campaign started tonight. It should be interesting tomorrow to see how the Obama campaign responds to Romney's over the top speech tonight.

11. The "are you better off now than 4 years ago" line is completely ignorant.

Of course we are... 4 years ago we were on the verge of a massive economic collapse brought on by Bush era lax real estate, banking and investment regulations. The President steered us through that crisis and we are now slowly but surely on the mend.

He can't win, and he's going to keep Republicans at home so that we can take back the House and keep the Senate.

And then we'll have a better America.
