Indonesia says it could have underground nuclear power plant within 10 years

Indonesia has raised the prospect of having an underground nuclear power plant within 10 years.
With about 250 million residents spread across a sprawling archipelago, reliable power supply is still a problem for the world's fourth most populous country.
Indonesian vice president Jusuf Kalla admitted there was resistance to the idea of nuclear power in Indonesia but said it could happen in the next decade.

Indonesia sits along three different tectonic plates and is subject to frequent earthquakes.

(11,014 posts)The plant will probably be located in Borneo which is part of a different land mass and has very stable bedrock.

because it is sometimes difficult to tell whether a country is using its reactors for power production, or for weapons production.
Boycott, sanctions, blockade, surgical air strikes, invasion, occupation?

(22,000 posts)Still nuclear power is a bad idea. I know someone who lives there and is an engineer. The next time I talk to her I will ask her what she thinks.
