Ex-NFL Player Aaron Hernandez Convicted Of First-Degree Murder

Source: CBS

Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

A Massachusetts jury on Wednesday found Hernandez killed Odin Lloyd on June 17, 2013. Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. He was found shot six times in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.

At the time, Hernandez had a $40 million contract with the Patriots.

Hernandez’s lawyer acknowledged during closing arguments that he was there when Lloyd was killed. But he pinned the shooting on Hernandez’s two friends, saying his client was a 23-year-old kid who didn’t know what to do.

Once the authorities had enough evidence to arrest him (like a week or two after the Lloyd murder) he was arrested and hasn't been "allowed to go free and make millions"!!!!!

Ex-New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the July 2012 killings of two men in Boston, authorities said Thursday.

Hernandez, 24, could be arraigned as early as next week. He is currently in jail awaiting trial in a separate case: the 2013 slaying of Odin Lloyd, who was dating a sister of Hernandez's fiancee.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said at a news conference Thursday that a grand jury returned the indictments in the shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

"Mr. de Abreu and Mr. Furtado were ambushed and executed as they drove home along Shawmut Avenue in Boston's South End in the early morning hours of July 16, 2012," Conley said.

.....for the one he was convicted of today.

He was arrested for this one 13 days after it happened, and the Patriots nullified their contract with him four hours later.

I know. I was just giving you information that I thought explained the comment from post #1. I realize I could have just let the other poster defend his post, but since I had the information I decided to give it to you. The other poster probably feels it was Hernandez's fame as opposed to lack of evidence that kept him out of prison on the first case.

...he has never seen the light of day again, and as of today never will.

Truly a sad state of affairs. In addition to Lloyd being killed, he and his buddies destroyed Lloyd's family's lives, his own family's lives (including his son who doesn't even know him yet!), and the lives and families of his other two victims.

There is nothing worse than a murder trial, especially a high profile one, in a major media market.

It sucks the oxygen out of the room daily with inane updates and looks at all sorts of procedural stuff that doesn't mean anything to most people.

It just totally wears down the region.

So glad this is done and over with. If only the attention this got was given to regional or national matters in the news/press.

I listened to the jury talking to the media and several said it looked like a gun but it wasn't unanimous and they didn't use it in making their decision.
