Release of bin Laden death photos blocked

A federal judge has turned aside calls to publicly release video and photographs of the U.S. military raid and aftermath that left al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden dead.

Judicial Watch, a conservative legal group, had asked the Department of Defense to comply with a Freedom of Information request for the material, especially photos of the September 11 mastermind lying dead on the third floor of his Pakistan hideout.

The group argued it was being "irreparably harmed" by the Obama administration's "unlawful withholding of requested records."

But Judge James Boasberg ruled Thursday there were legitimate national security interests to deny disclosure.

Nothing the US government releases has any credibility with me.
We will never know what really happened to OBL or if he was killed by US troops as claimed....or if his body was dumped at sea (unlikely, in my view).
There have been too many lies about everything connected to so called national security interests. I have always believed if there wasn't an OBL, the USA would have to invent him...and perhaps it did.
If any truth is made known, it will be a from other than official US sources (Wikileaks?) or it will be accidently revealed...and then denie d. Whistleblowers are prosecuted and disavowed, but that could be another source of information. Official sources? Not anymore.

Mid-ranking Pakistani army officials may have known that Osama Bin Laden had a safe house in Pakistan, leaked material appears to indicate. The claim was made in e-mails allegedly from US-based security think tank Stratfor, which were published by the whistleblowing website Wikileaks.



An email from a senior Stratfor employee to colleagues is quoted as saying: "Mid to senior level ISI and Pak Mil with one retired Pak Mil General that had knowledge of the OBL arrangements and safe house." The message goes on to say that the names and specific ranks of these generals were unknown to him, but adds that he believes US intelligence had that information.


"Having had our property stolen, we will not be victimised twice by submitting to questioning about them," Stratfor said in a statement on the publication of the emails by Wikileaks.


The next questions are: how long has US intelligence had that information, and why has the Pakistani military been keeping UBL under house arrest, and who else knew about this? How does Stratfor know this level of detail? Want to bet the corporate media doesn't even ask?

When American troops were pulled back from Tora Bora, supposedly handing the responsibility over to some Afghan war lord to finish the job, was NOT yet another bone-headed decision from the Decider, but, just as OBL other relatives were shuffled out of the US after 9/11, OBL was shuffled out of Afghanistan by this war lord under the payment and orders of the US to be protected by Pakistan.

This way dumbya could still have his boogeyman. And OBL came through with another scary video just in time before the second term elections. This not only helped Bush but helped to increase spending on the military as well.

OBL just simply ran out of his usefulness, and Obama was "given permission" to get credit for taking him out.

4. I'd like to know what my tax dollars are paying for

As the old saying goes, "Forewarned is forearmed." Not that I mind at all if I'm the victim of some righteous revenge from the aggrieved survivors of our program of summary execution. Heck, it's so popular and even our highest government officials have pronounced it "justice," so who am I to argue about quaint old documents and passé concepts? Besides a citizen, that is.

The troops would be the ones taking the brunt of outrage and backlash from release of the photos.
