B.B. King tells fans he's in hospice care

Source: USA Today

B.B. King is in hospice care, he told his fans on Facebook on Friday.

"I am in home hospice care at my residence in Las Vegas," writes the blues legend. "Thanks to all for your well wishes and prayers."

The Clarion-Ledgerreports King was briefly hospitalized Thursday.

King's daughter, Patty King, said her father wasn't eating and was dehydrated, so he was taken to the hospital for observation, according to local station KLAS-TV.

.... B.B. came out and announced that "some people will tell you B.B. King is too old to stand on a stage and perform anymore. Those people are right."

He then sat down and played and sang is magnificiently as ever.

Was just talking about him too today in reference to Bennie King.

Once they stop eating and drinking, they are preparing to move on.

My childhood heroes are dropping.
I learned the blues listening to his records as a kid.
I hope he still has a few years ahead.
Godspeed BB!

I first saw him on I think the Mike Douglas show about 1964 (home from school pretending to be sick). He introduced and led me into some wonderful music. I saw him concert a number of times, including at the Kickapoo Creek Ill rock festival in 1970. Always a good show. May the gods bless him.

Saw him at the Greek in front of another act (Ringo Starr ?). About 4 songs into his set the audience gave him a standing ovation that just kept going. People stood on their seats and we started chanting " B B King! B B King!"

Great show and the warmth of the guy was infectious.

I wish him the best.

Hospice is such an amazing organization.

I've personally dealt with Hospice on two occasions, while having a mother who has been a Hospice care provider for nearly twenty years...

You're in good hands, B.B.

Rest well, friend...
