Clinton to call for path to citizenship at Nevada campaign stop

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will announce at a Nevada campaign stop that she supports a full path to citizenship for undocumented workers as part of an overhaul of the U.S. immigration system.

Rancho High School, where Clinton will appear at a roundtable discussion, is less than 10 miles north of the famous Las Vegas strip of casinos. Its student body is approximately 70 percent Hispanic and includes some students who would be eligible for a special residency status for those who entered the U.S. as children under a stalled Democratic immigration proposal.

Clinton is expected to say in her remarks that a "true solution" to the country's immigration problems would include "nothing less than a full and equal path to citizenship", according to an advisory provided by a campaign aide.

The Culinary Workers Union, which repreents 55,000 Nevada casino workers from 167 countries and has long called for an overhaul of the immigration system, welcomed the news.

Bravo Hillary!

A path to citizenship would affect as many lives as just about anything else in the US. Frankly, a path to citizenship might have a secondary effect on many other areas: healthcare, local elections, trade, and the general economy.
