DHS Secretary: Lone-Wolf Attackers Could ‘Strike At Any Moment’

Source: The Hill

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Sunday that the United States is facing a new era in which a lone-wolf terrorist could “strike at any moment.”

“We’re very definitely in a new environment, because of ISIL’s effective use of social media, the Internet, which has the ability to reach into the homeland and possibly inspire others,” Johnson said in an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” using the administration's preferred acronym for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Because of the use of the Internet, we could have little or no notice in advance of an independent actor attempting to strike.”

As a result, Johnson said, the federal government is making a greater effort to engage with state and local law enforcement and encourage them to be “vigilant” about what is happening in their communities.

Iraq and the Levant, encompassing Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Given that the Islamic State (of whatever) already made that decision, ISIL is a more accurate description than limiting it to Iraq and Syria as ISIS implies.

Why would you attribute ISIL to President Obama?

Lone wolf white supremacists who shoot up churches, synagogues, old folks homes and blow up federal buildings are not. Neither are armed vigilantes claiming public lands and having armed showdowns with federal agents. Nor are fundamentalist Christian fanatics who bomb abortion clinics and shoot doctors. Least of all are summary police executions in predominantly minority, Christian communities.

It's like Allah is just popping these Muzlin's people's heads and suddenly they're shooting everybody!!! I mean, it's all right if your everyday Krishtun neighbor goes a little off his rocker and decides to blow you away - that's, like, an American tradition. But it's way scary with these brown skinned Muzlins hiding everywhere (I'm sure there'z been one on one of my street corners the last few nights, casin' the place for his geehod and everything!)

Well, no way they'll get to my family after we seal ourselves in the basement with a 100% American home-made concrete blast shelter. No doors or anything! Not going to be no Izlumic State in my basement!

There was a time when we had a much large standing military.
Now we force Nat'l Guard to take on that burden, and those guys have to give up their jobs to go overseas.
So where the hell is the is all the money going?
Besides mercenaries...uhhh...contractors that we pay much ore than our own troops.

This evil man devised a means to mass-produce a terrible weapon that has been responsible for as many as 25,000 deaths a year in the US alone, and has been responsible for millions of deaths around the world in the last century or so.

A stranger may strike you down with one of these devastating weapons at any moment. You will have no warning.

They calculated very carefully whether it would cost more to recall them & retro-fit them with a gas tank fix, or to just pay off the wrongful death suits they anticipated. It would by their estimates be cheaper to pay off the death suits than to instal the $15 fix, so that's the way they went.

Nice little car for a Detroit product of the 70's. I had a post-scandal model, though. In the great color of you're-in green.

I understand there is some debate about the authenticity of the Pinto scandal, although I tend to think it is all a smokescreen. And I've been noticing a scad of recalls for fatal problems by auto manufacturers recently. I sometimes wonder if we can't even build a car that works anymore.

As for Henry and the chromed machines of death, remember the sequence in Bloom County where Opus is running for prez? He wants to lower the speed limit to 55 because it will save lives. It's pointed out to him that the lower the speed limit, the more lives saved: banning cars altogether, thus, would save tens of thousands of lives a year. Leading this one to ruminate about how decisions are made on acceptable casualties by our rulers.

My previous ride had one that said "Get your shit together," which caused me to receive a ticket. Man, I was stoked. I called the ACLU and was ready and eager to fight it to the Supreme Court. Chance to make the history books and everything.

It was a wash. Intentionally or otherwise, the officer had written the wrong ordinance number on the ticket, so the case was thrown out on that technicality. I'll never forget the JP saying to me afterwards: "You don't look like the kind of person who would do something like that!" (I was wearing a suit, and had a fresh hair cut). Christ on a pogo stick, the judge was prejudiced from the start.

So he's talking about the 12,000+ murders that happen in the United States every, year, right? Or would he be referring exclusively to the 20-40 or so that were committed by a dark-skinned Muslim? Cuz it's apparently nothing big when non-Muslim Americans go around killing each other -isn't that one of our Second Amendment rights? The right to bear arms and use them against other people after someone said the wrong thing while drunk at a bar, or during a domestic dispute... Obviously pointing a gun at someone and shooting them isn't terrorism - you have to be a Muslim to qualify for that....
