David Cameron appoints anti-gay marriage MP to be minister for equalities

Source: Pink News

A Tory MP who previously said the state had “no right” to redefine marriage, and who voted against same-sex marriage, has been appointed minister for equalities.

Caroline Dinenage, the MP for Gosport, was appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron today as the Parliamentary under secretary of state at the Ministry of Justice and the minister for equalities at the Department for Education.

In 2013, she told a PinkNews reader that the “state has no right” to redefine its meaning of marriage and that “preventing same-sex couples from being allowed to marry takes nothing away from their relationship.”

Ms Dinenage, the daughter of Fred Dinenage, the veteran ITV regional news presenter and former presenter of children’s programme How2, also voted against the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill at its Second Reading in the House of Commons. Ms Dinenage voted for other components of the bill, so as to stay loyal to the Tory party line, and was absent for the Bill’s Third Reading.

Does anyone still believe the myth that the Tories are more liberal than the Democratic party?

lets think about what this woman also said:

"In a letter to a PinkNews reader, Ms Dinenage wrote that the Church states that “marriage is in its nature a union of ‘one man and one woman’, and went on to say “the institution of marriage is distinctive.”

Yep, the catholic church also had inquisition's if you were found out to be homosexual back in the day---nice try Cameron and Dinenage--------- but your Bigots-----------------just like the right wing republican Tories here in America your Tory cousin's-----------they have a plan of doing nothing more except spreading hate and fear and being divisive

Should we rule out Hillary Clinton as president because she once opposed marriage equality?

Ms Dinenage now reports in the role to Nicky Morgan – who also voted against same sex marriage in July 2013

but one of the few good things about Cameron is that he is relatively liberal on some social issues such as marriage equality and women's reproductive rights. I don't think that this will be reversed.

Unfortunately, the government are likely to do other nasty things, especially to poor people, trade unions, the NHS and those who depend on it, and migrants. Iain Duncan-Smith, who is not just the usual axe-wielding Tory, but has a fanatical ideological devotion to punishing poor people for their poverty, will continue to be Secretary for Work and Pensions. Theresa May, Philip Hammond, and their underlings, who deliberately cut rescue operations for refugee boat people in the Mediterranean, on the grounds that this would only encourage them to migrate (as though they were doing this for fun) and as a result have allowed over 1000 people so far to drown (I call it 'our Katrina') will continue in office. Jeremy Hunt will continue as Health Secretary and continue the privatization of the NHS. And so on. Argh.
