Bill Cosby to appear on Good Morning America today

Source: Washington Post

A legendary comedian accused of sexually assaulting more than two dozen women will give his most high-profile interview since the slow-burning scandal exploded last year. Bill Cosby, 77, will speak with Linsey Davis of “Good Morning America” at 7:30 a.m. Eastern. (You can check out The Washington Post’s Style Blog for a live update.)

Cosby — a controversial voice in the African American community since a 2004 speech calling for parents to take more responsibility for their children — has chosen perhaps the least assailable way to return to the spotlight: After speaking to high school students in one of the poorest areas of Alabama, he will walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. The bridge, where civil rights marchers were beaten by police in 1965 on what’s known as “Bloody Sunday,” is sacred ground in the civil rights movement — and an integral part of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. — that was enshrined decades before the release of the Oscar-nominated film “Selma” last year.

Sex addiction, insofar as it's a valid category, does not mean rape or assault.

Predators in the animal world are not into rape or assault.

Nevertheless, I try not to equate anyone with anything. Sex-seeking may motivate violence in some cases, but a lot of other things do too, more often than sex-seeking. Rape is not generally about a need for sex, if at all, especially not in this case - a man who can pretty much pay for any sexual service, including his desired forms of role play, forever. Clearly, violation was a part of it for him.

You do have a point about the multiple meanings of predator. I am using it in the (second) established dictionary definition, of humans victimizing other humans, if not for the purpose of literally eating their flesh as food.

I doubt I will ever untangle the emotions I feel about this--anger, contempt, disappointment, sadness--the whole gamut. The entire situation is just... beyond expression, I think. sigh....

Should have attempted it months ago, but he knew there were others coming forward. And given the weird legalisms his lawyer employed when he mentioned oe of the victims, it's likely he admitted to some guilt in his sealed civil suit years ago.

"I don't talk about it" and on-stage jokes about the accusations told you all you needed to know about this monster.

If he can't be prosecuted, they should at least revoke his Medal of Freedom and Mark Twain prize.

People may forgive a murderer or a one time rapist who lost control when young and later served serious time for the offense.

But Bill chose vulnerable victims and drugged them to have his way followed by using his powerful position to ensure silence.

No forgiveness from me.

There are standards... and if Bill Cosby is found guilty of child sex crimes then he should be ostracized in the same way. The problem is that there are statutes of limitations on sex crimes in a lot of states. So I don't think he will ever see a courtroom.

But first he has to be convicted. How is that going? Has anyone got anywhere with a criminal complaint, or is it all too old and long ago for that?
