(Kentucky Republican gubernatorial primary) Bevin's lead slim; Comer seeks recanvass

Source: Louisville Courier-Journal

Matt Bevin led James Comer by a mere 83 votes in the Republican primary for Kentucky governor late Tuesday with 100 percent of the vote counted.

Comer announced about 10 p.m. that he would ask for a recanvass to clarify the results. He said that he had called Bevin and promised him that if Bevin were the winner, he would "go door to door" with him to help him get elected in the fall.

The Associated Press said that with 100 percent of the vote in that the race was too close to call. It said it would not be calling a winner in the race Tuesday night.

Bevin, a Louisville businessman, held the lead most of the night, but Comer's tally surged as he piled up votes in Western Kentucky. Comer is from Tompkinsville.

I doubt the republicans will do nothing more than a re-canvas of the votes. Bevins is the R winner facing Jack Conway D. Bevins, a tea-party guy, will have a multicultural family oriented feel good campaign and give Conway fits except on the issues and the consequences to kentucky if for example, KY becomes a right-to-work state, (or basically everything that Wisconsin has inflicted on it's population). Bevins is like a trojan horse, a wolf in sheeps clothing. Outside he has all the right appearances (good looking, sense of humor, huge family and foster kids, multicultural, black female lieutenant governor running mate, and very up lifting). On the inside, he carries a extreme rightwing poison. Climate change denier, blame the EPA, Charter school loving, Right to work, anti-union, anti-abortion, etc. (tea party politics).
Wish us well.

Comer is popular amongst the rural folk as evidenced by his huge vote totals in western KY. Bevin is an unknown quantity as well and Conway can paint him as a radical teabagger, which he is.

I thought it would be Comer by a comfortable margin. I think it's both good and bad. Comer seemed less crazy than Bevin but I think (and hope!) Conway will have an easier time beating Bevin.
