Pataki: Send combat troops to fight ISIS

Source: CNN

(CNN)Former Gov. George Pataki, who is expected to launch a presidential bid next week, said Wednesday the U.S. should deploy troops to Iraq to fight ISIS.

Pataki, a New York Republican, insisted that a deployment of U.S. combat troops would be a limited mission unlike the 2003 American invasion of Iraq -- a war then-President George W. Bush had insisted would be short-lived.

"I don't want to see us putting in a million soldiers, spend 10 years, a trillion dollars, trying to create a democracy where one hasn't existed," Pataki said Wednesday on CNN's "New Day. "But send in troops, destroy their training centers, destroy their recruitment centers, destroy the area where they are looking to plan to attack us here and then get out."

Pataki added that while Americans may be wary of sending troops back into combat the fight against ISIS "is our war."

I think Pataki thinks people remember him for having something to do with the response to 9/11.

Trillions for Halliburton by order of Cheney to rebuild in Iraq while our infrastructure needs repair and our roads needs to be expanded to handle the traffic and now he wants to throw more money into Bush's disaster. Brilliant.

1965--The bastards shot at one of our patrol boats. Let's get a war on.

Pataki, this is a civil war, that was created by your buddy Bush and Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Rice and the assorted bunch of right wing zealots, and the lists goes on and on and they failed.
They should go over there and clean up there mess, they should put on a uniform and lead the charge-----------bottom line.

Again this is another short sighted act to gain political ground at the expense of public treasure and lives.

Pataki, should first of all admit that the last 12 years was a lie and he supported this lie.
And then admit that all of the above used intelligence (which said there was nothing to justify what these criminals were about to connive with the help with the like's of Judith Miller (her interview with Jon Stewart is outstanding and should be re-played), and lets not forget them outing of a CIA operative (Valerie Plame) to foment that lie and that all of them should apologize (I will not hold my breath) to the citizens of this country and to Iraq.

The Shite majority in Bagdad, Pataki, is NOT and I repeat still NOT including the Sunni's into the process of governing the country, this is the only way to alleviate this disaster------------include the Sunni's.

This country (U.S.) created this mess, we give them money and hardware, it is now time for Iraq to have a society of inclusion for everyone----------instead of the select few.

We are the "Ugly American" in the world, Pataki, and since you are a right wing mouth piece says it all, on what you would do if you decide to run for the highest office in this country,, we cannot not afford another 3 trillion in war debt, put on a credit card

Don't know what Pataki did before or after 9/11. The news was Rudy, Rudy, Rudy 24/7.

But it's plain what a GOP prez will do right out of the gate in 2017. They want a war to enrich their sponsors, decimate the population and to reduce the USA to penury.

An international coalition is needed to mow down ISIS with overwhelming force. The same coalition can then be used against Boko Haram and Al Shabaab. It may require killing hundreds of thousands but no one should shed any tears any more than one sheds tears over killing cancer cells.

I'm beginning to think this is a lot like Haj (and my sincere apologies to anyone offended by my even tangentially letting Haj and the Republicans be mentioned in the same sentence - Oh, no apologies to the Republicans, natch.)

- Wear suit with flag lapel - check
- Spout words about importance of family - check
- Vote against anything that can be used by the poor or middle-class - check
- Accept donations for RW platforms (cash in envelope preferrable) - check
- Be photographed in/near fundamentalist bigots - check
- Be able to recite any of the Sermon on the Mount - WHOOPS
- Abuse your spouse and children - maybe that isn't a big deal

if they even know what the Haj is,,,,,,,

These monkeys have found a way to skim donated campaign money after the election is over back to themselves for personal use or there is no way this many whom have no chance in hades of winning would be running for prez!

There's not enough room in the clown car for him.
He's minor league idiocy compared to the rest of them.
I would be all in favor of sending troops as long as the Republicans who are running for president are on the front lines, along with their entire family close behind.

Let's assume they stick to such a limited plan, and they leave after driving out ISIS. Would US troops follow them into Syria? The troops would have to stay on the ground, because as soon as the forces leave they will just pop back up. There is no way US troops wouldn't be there for a long period of time. Not to mention the fact that having US troops back on Iraqi soil would likely serve a major recruiting tool for ISIS, and may even cause some of our old enemies and current "frenemies" to turn on US troops.

This is something that the regional powers should continue to try to solve. Give them support if needed, but let them be the primary forces dealing with it.

Sorry the people of Iraq have apparently decided opposing ISIS is not worth the time, effort and cost.

There is no point in our young people fighting and dieing to take land, which the locals will freely abandon to ISIL the moment our young people are elsewhere.

They know for a fact that all their kids, and grand kids are safe at home and will never suffer one second of their life in a stinkin war.

Dead american poor kids trapped in the economic draft equals massive profits for MIC and friends.
