Atlantic City union workers find unique way to spotlight casino labor strife

Source: NJ.com

By Jeff Goldman

ATLANTIC CITY — If you're headed to either the Tropicana or the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City for Memorial Day weekend, you might be greeted by a message asking you to stay away.

A union in the middle of a prolonged battle with billionaire owner Carl Icahn has begun employing a new tactic — a special spotlight that projects the words, "Boycott Taj" and "Boycott Trump" on the two hotel casinos.

Local 54 of UNITE-HERE is shining the lights to protest the stripping of pension and health benefits from about 1,100 workers at the Taj Mahal, according to spokesman Ben Begleiter.

A spotlight has been placed on the hotels from time to time in the past two months — mostly on weekends — and generally from three to five hours each night, the spokesman said.

FULL story at link.

I'll be interested to see how hard it is for the "authorities" to clamp down on this.

Laser beams from 1-2 miles away? Drones flying public service messages?

I think we're coming into a new age of novel mass communications that will be difficult to control.

Unless we become a police state....
