Washington (CNN) -- The head of the Environmental Protection Agency's office in Dallas has resigned over comments he made in 2010 that became the focus of political condemnation last week.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said Monday that she accepted a letter of resignation from Al Armendariz.

"I respect the difficult decision he made and his wish to avoid distracting from the important work of the agency," Jackson said in a written statement.

In the letter dated Sunday, Armendariz said he regrets his comments, adding that they did not reflect on his work or the work of the EPA.

I don't believe in rule by fiat. I do believe in due process. Is that too hard for you to fathom?

13. Ah, if only there was any evidence of such "rule by fiat" to support your point of view ...

... i.e., law-breaking "rule by fiat" by the EPA (specifically by the guy who resigned) .

On the other hand, I know there is shit-loads of evidence for law-breaking of all kinds
by the oil & gas industries (and others) in your/Inhofe's region.

But yes, "believe in due process" by all means ...

15. How precisely does one take an editorial comment to the level of 'rule by fiat'?

How precisely does one take an editorial comment to the level of 'rule by fiat'? (I'm not as clever as you, and it is indeed, difficult for me to fathom...)

for slithering monsters like Inhofe. He represents the oh-so common alpha sociopath, willing to destroy another persons career, livelihood or even life without remorse because it benefits him and because he can.

Why have the Dems not protested the "communist" attacks regarding Democratic
members of Congress?

Let's stop the one-sided Republican outrage, and stick it to these clowns Dems.

West should be kicked out of Congress for his remarks - Tea Party freak who should
be taken to the whipping pole

11. Translation: all of the oil companies are non-compliant

and there are not enough regulators to keep them all in line. The fact remains that oil companies are not following the rules. I assume that's ok with repugs, since they don't believe in regulation. Repugs have to distract from that fact, so the story becomes about how Obama is picking on the poor oil companies.

Still don't think this guy should have resigned over a figure of speech.

Mind you, it's not just the "Repugs" who are busy distracting from the problems.
