Lawyer Says Venezuela Government Foe Ceballos Moved to Prison
Source: WSJ
Venezuelan authorities have transferred a jailed opposition leader, considered by government opponents to be among the countrys most prominent political prisoners, to a notoriously violent penitentiary, his lawyer said on Saturday.
Daniel Ceballos was sentenced to a year in prison in early 2014 for refusing to break up antigovernment protests and had been held in a military stockade just outside of Caracas with Leopoldo Lopez, a former presidential candidate and leader of their opposition Popular Will party.
Venezuelan authorities didnt respond to a call on Saturday about the alleged move of Mr. Ceballos.
Meanwhile, in a video message appearing on Saturday and apparently smuggled out of prison by his party, Mr. Lopez said he and Mr. Ceballos had decided to embark on a hunger strike.

all the good works Chavez, Father of the Poor, did for the Venezuelan poor. And that by people who are already rich beyond the dreams of avarice. Well, it seems that's not possible, but there you are. that's what this is about, isn't it?
Have you enemies of Chavez's memory no shame? May Presidente Ugo Chavez's soul rest in peace. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

(13,340 posts)Chevez built a house of cards, based on terrible economic planning. Maduro has continued this intellectually bankrupt economic planning and the economy of VZ is basically on the verge of collapse.
Whatever you think of the intentions of the Chavistas, they have proven themselves entirely incapable of managing an economy. Unfortunately, it's pretty unlikely that the Chavistas qre really self-relexive enough to engineer actual solutions, and will instead rely on blaming the U.S. And doubling down on ideological rhetoric.
