National GOP may bar Maine's Republican delegates

Source: Portland Press Herald (Maine)

As many as 21 of Maine's 24 delegates to this year's Republican National Convention could be barred from participating if national party officials determine that selection rules were violated at the state convention in Augusta this weekend.

Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul seized control of the two-day convention, electing the chairman and 20 national convention delegates who are loyal to their candidate.

Backers of Mitt Romney, whose top attorney attended the event, have said the delegate selection process was unsound, and claimed numerous violations of state party rules.

Charles Cragin, a Romney supporter who lost a bid to chair the convention by just four votes, said he saw numerous violations of party rules that undermined the integrity of the delegate selection process: town delegations given more paper ballots than they had delegates, at least one county casting more votes than it had delegates, and a failure to control access to the floor to ensure that only accredited state delegates voted.

Good luck with that.

Letter Claiming To Be Official Marching Orders To Ron Paul's Alaska GOP Convention Delegates

This is the email claiming to be from the Ron Paul "Command Center" detailing their strategies for the 2012 Alaska GOP Convention.

These include: "confusing" other delegates, blindly following voting directivies from Ron Paul leadership, and using parlimentary manuvers to drag out the convention so thier oppenents will have to leave to attend to their children.

Is this a real letter from the Ron Paul "Command Center?" It seems too over the top to be real, but judge for yourself.

After we take over the Alaska convention, we will be able to nominate Dr. Paul from the floor at the Republican National Convention. We will have a floor fight at the national convention and when it's all said and done, Dr. Paul will be the nominee. Despite what the Republican Party wants us to believe, this election is not about beating Obama. This election is about cleansing the Republican Party. The poor excuse for Americans that support Santorum, Gingrich, and Romney need to be run out of the Republican Party. Once we have cleansed the Republican Party and President Paul is elected, we will end America’s wars of aggression, we will put an end to American imperialism, and we will end the Fed!

I'd have called your letter "over the top" too. No longer. What I received was plain old unbelievable, but it was a mass mailing so apparently it must appeal to the right wingnuts.

It's their way. They did it in the caucus and they're doing it again.

The convention was a disaster. The Paul supporters did have a legitimate beef, after their votes were ignored during the primary, and now they're having their revenge.

Nevada as well.

Steal, cheat, lie, bare false witness etc. - all the lovely parts of their Christianity and all in the name of their GAWD because he apparently sanctions it.

Ron Paul is hardly the beacon of reason he and his supporters pretend to be.

This is going to get interesting. I can't see how negating the Ron Paul delegates is going to help Romney. It may just create a lot fewer votes on the (R) side.
