MILWAUKEE (WTW) — A secret Milwaukee County investigation that has already led to criminal charges against five people close to Gov. Scott Walker took a step forward Wednesday when a judge granted immunity to a 12th witness.

David Halbrooks, a former Milwaukee municipal judge and private attorney, requested and received immunity in the so-called John Doe investigation, according to online court records.

Intriguing.

Former assistant city attorney for Milwaukee, member of the Wisconsin Elections Board, and a former municipal court judge.

Whats this all about? He asked for and received immunity.

Tip of the iceberg I say. This guy has something to say.

Walker himself hasn't been charged with wrongdoing and has repeatedly said he's cooperating with the investigation. However, he also set up a legal defense fund, a move allowed only for officeholders who have been charged or are under investigation for election or campaign violations.

Walker's campaign revealed in recent public filings that it transferred $60,000 to the legal fund to pay for attorneys.

Walker's campaign responded that the fund was set up under the guidance of the state elections board and reiterated that Walker isn't a target of the investigation.

Someone is lying.

I'd like to see him indicted before the recall elections so the people of WI really know who/what they are voting for.

Several Peeps from Waukesha that I work with came up to me yesterday exclaiming how Walker had more votes than
all the Dem primary candidates combined. That's how they think/roll in Waukesha!!

Wisconsin than all the Democratic nominees? If they claim it's all over Wisconsin, I'd take that with a big grain of salt. It could be true in Waukesha County. Waukesha County reminds me of Du Page County in Illinois. While Cook County is entirely Democratic, DuPage is entirely Republican.

I personally would love to see Scott Walker get indicted before the election, but I wouldn't count on it. I just hope the good people in Wisconsin see what mistake it was to elect Walker in 2010 in the firs place, and throw him out of office. The Koch Brothers and Karl Rove would be furious..

Speaking of Waukesha County is the woman who was in charge of the election results still in the same position? I can't remember her name, but didn't something funny happen with the results from Waukesha County in the election for a judge on the WI Supreme Court?

I spoke to a friend of mine who does defense work both criminal and civil and he said that Scott Walker is the John Doe and that the only reason he has not been indicted or charged yet is that the DA office wants to make sure that they have an ironclad case before they name indict him.
