‘Trayvon Martin’ gun range targets sold out in two days
By David Edwards
Friday, May 11, 2012 13:24 EDT

A person selling gun range targets modeled after slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin says that their “main motivation was to make money off the controversy.”

WKMG’s Mike DeForest reported on Friday that the unidentified seller told him that the targets “sold out in 2 days.”

“The response is overwhelming,” the seller said.

~snip~
Photos of the item, which was titled “10 Pack Trayvon Martin Targets,” showed crosshairs over a hoodie similar to the one Trayvon Martin was wearing when he was shot by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in February. The figure has a bag of Skittle in his pocket and is holding what appears to be a can of iced tea, similar to what Martin had purchased before being gunned down. The pack of 10 targets was being sold for $8.

Fueled by Fucx Snooze, Rush, and the fact that a black man is more competent than their choice of BarbieDoll and Senile white guy, these racists have come out of the woodwork and are buying guns and supporting the likes of that coward Zimmerman.

There's millions of them, and, with the help of the internet, any racist can make money selling this SHH***.

How'd that work out for everybody?

Unfortunately, ignoring them gives them free reign, implies that they're correct ("well, the other side isn't saying anything - not fighting back - must be true, then, 'eh?&quot , and lets them have the stage - unfettered, unchecked, and unrestrained!

Unfortunately we HAVE to make a stink about it. We can't afford to let these people slither around doing this shit - with no consequence, no flack, no noise drawing attention to their awful awful crap! It has to be responded to and questioned LOUDLY. Otherwise it will continue, under the radar, until it's metastasized like a cancer.

"Ignore it" - your dermatologist wouldn't advise that if you came in with a mole on your shoulder that looked a little fishy.

"Ignore it" - your dentist wouldn't advise that if you had this little twinge of tooth pain.

"Ignore it" - your doctor wouldn't advise that if you called about this funny feeling in your stomach.

No, you have to hit shit like this head-on - with the biggest neon-painted sledge-hammer you can lift!!!!

Screw them all, especially those who profit from this, and those who find enjoyment in using such "targets." I'll bet some are planning a big weekend at the range playing Zimmerman, and will take the kids to share in the experience and comraderie.

For better or worse, at least the vendor says he's just trying to make a buck.

People who get a thrill out of shooting a caricature of Martin need intensive help and probably shouldn't own a deadly weapon. I own guns, but for all my anger and disgust never wanted to shoot a target of Rush Limbaugh. It'd be too big to be sporting anyway.

I remember a comedian who once said we shouldn't ban guns, but charge $100 dollars a bullet. That'd make people more carefully consider what or who they shoot.

It's not fine when people try to make a political statement with it. It's stupid. It's sick. In this case, it's a general threat, I would argue.

Human point silhouette targets are used by the military and police as well. No problem there. If you weren't carrying for self defense, then no, you probably wouldn't use that type of target either.
