Hoping to Deflate Stephen Colbert’s Debut Week, The Tonight Show Books Donald Trump
Source: AdWeek
Stehen Colbert has been making headlines for the eclectic group of guests he's lined up for his Late Show debut next weekguests like George Clooney, Elon Musk and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. But The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has countered with a huge booking of its own.
Donald Trump will appear on the show next Friday, Sept. 11, the network announced today. Empire star Terrence Howard and Pharrell Williams also will be guests on the show, while Colbert's Late Show guests the same night include Amy Schumer, Stephen King and a performance by Troubled Waters.
It will be Trump's first appearance on The Tonight Show since NBC cut professional ties with the former Celebrity Apprentice host on June 29, following what the network called his "derogatory statements
regarding immigrants."
Last month, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters that while Trump will "absolutely not" return as Celebrity Apprentice host, he hasn't been barred from appearing on the network. "I don't think somebody who is running for president and might possibly be the next leader of the free world will be completely banned from any activities at NBC," Greenblatt said.

(5,751 posts)He'd probably be out of the race by now. MSM TV created Donald Trump, The Presidential Candidate, and they did at the expense of the entire country.
Sick!

(2,322 posts)...the news often lags behind in these things. They don't realize when they've saturated the market and viewers are yawing saying, "Seen that. Rather watch something else..."
And then there's the fact that most people are able to watch one show and record the other. So that's probably going to happen as well.

(5,751 posts)and play a drinking game where you only get to drink if tRump says some variation of "they all love me"!!

(100,065 posts)After being scammed by them last week I don't want anything to do with them anymore. I'll tune into Colbert instead.

(29,414 posts)Perhaps it's a good thing, too, that tRump is going to be on September 11th. I suspect (hope) he'll say something else horribly stupid, and piss off yet another group of people, such as firefighters and people from the Middle East.

(100,065 posts)I would love to see the Colbert Report era Stephen interview Trump and his supporters. That would have been classic! I hope he's merciless to Trump.

(1,814 posts)One of the reasons I liked Letterman is that he was not impressed by anyone. Fallon gets star-struck at the drop of a hat.

(14,093 posts)We're a long way from this:
The unfunny hack Jimmy still can't get enough of Rudy Giuiani, either.
And he had Christie Creme on the other night, letting him do one of those tiresome lip sync bits.
Put me down for Team Colbert all the way.
