Clinton Campaign: We Wanted Staffer Who Set Up Email Server To Testify

Source: Talking Points Memo

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign encouraged a former State Department employee who helped set up her private email server to testify before the House committee on Benghazi.

Attorneys for Bryan Pagliano on Monday notified the committee that their client would invoke his Fifth Amendment right not to testify at a hearing next week.

An anonymous Clinton campaign aide told The New York Times that Pagliano's decision was "both understandable and disappointing."

“We had hoped Bryan would also agree to answer any questions from the committee and had recently encouraged him to grant the committee’s request for an interview,” the aide told the Times, adding that the campaign believes Pagliano "has every reason to be transparent about his I.T. assistance."

So Mr. Pagliano was subpoenaed by Trey Gowdy's Benghazi Committee with no input from Democratic Committee members, ergo:

A Democratic committee source says there was "no debate or vote by the select committee" about the decision to issue Pagliano subpoena.

It basically taints evidence the DOJ might use to prosecute that person, makes anything they testify about inadmissible. Think about Oliver North, everything he testified about before Congress became inadmissible before a federal court because he was granted immunity by Congress.

It's a big separation of powers issue.

They just want to fish for something they can nail on HRC.

Even *if* this guy did anything illegal (which can NOT be assumed simply based on his invocation of the 5th), this committe doesn't care if he gets away with it. So it's not an issue for them.

The charges arose from an investigation by Independent Counsel Ken Starr. Originally dealing with the failed land deal years earlier known as Whitewater, Starr, with the approval of United States Attorney General Janet Reno, conducted a wide ranging investigation of alleged abuses including the firing of White House travel agents, the alleged misuse of FBI files, and Bill Clinton's conduct during the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former Arkansas government employee, Paula Jones. In the course of the investigation, Linda Tripp provided Starr with taped phone conversations in which Monica Lewinsky, a former White House Intern, discussed having oral sex with Clinton.

Lot of that about DU lately....purposeful ignorance of the actual issue, because the complexity of the actual issue hurts the brain!?

Which coincidently just happens to support the fascist GOP Clinton witch-hunts, 2015 version.

It was "inevitable" that the movie being played on a loop would be "Get Clinton".

Thanks for playing...for the wrong side.

DU is still NOT the place for disinformation, plenty of other sites one may like.
