Donald Trump refuses to support Kentucky clerk Kim Davis: ‘We are a nation of laws’

Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday broke away from stances held by many of his rivals on issues ranging from the Iran nuclear deal to the gay marriage fight in Kentucky. Trump’s statements in a lengthy interview on MSNBC came one day after signing the party’s loyalty pledge.

He called the Iran nuclear agreement “a disastrous deal” and “a horrible contract,” but said he would work with it.

Many of the 16 other Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for the 2016 presidential election have vowed to immediately undo the Obama administration’s agreement if they win office. But Trump, a wealthy businessman, reiterated his view that too much money was at stake and his rivals were wrong to say they would rip it up. “This is the perfect example of taking over a bad contract,” he said, adding that he would be tough in enforcing it.

Closer to home, Trump also eschewed rivals on the Kentucky battle over gay marriage. Some Republicans loudly backed Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, who opted for jail time rather than issue any marriage licenses following the U.S. Supreme Court’s June ruling in support of gay marriage. “We are a nation of laws,” Trump said. “The decision’s been made, and that’s the law of the land.”

What about God's (Evanglical Christian God only) Law? Some say being a Christian is now a crime in America! Why hasn't Trump heard the cries of 300 million Christians in America surely about to be at any time herded into Obama FEMA camps??

Trump better get with the GOP Gloom and Doom Fear and Loathing Persecution Complex or...something, something....

The fact the GOP is now now just little more than a narrowly based and much in the minority religious cult is undeniable....the evidence is overwhelming.

He's the most leftwing candidate in their race by a country mile--favors raising taxes on the rich, would work with Iran deal, throws Lil' Kim under the bus, wouldn't revoke Iran deal.

But, because he's a virulent racist the base loves him.

What a wretched ship of fools.

Everything he says or does gets massive attention. And he's hardly begun to spend. He's a phenomenon. Even I get sucked in by it (after all, I am commenting on this thread). There is a pop-star feeling about it all. Is this strange public fascination enough to get him into the White House? Let's hope not.

12. He's not doing it because he believes Kim Davis is wrong.

He's doing it to get a moral ground to hammer sanctuary cities. If Kim Davis has to go to jail for violating the law, then so must the mayors of places like San Francisco that don't follow immigration law. It's more of the same. This broken clock has no hands.

Unless mayors are defying direct court orders (are they?) the situations are not the same.

or get a judge to order it by suing them, it could happen.
Most likely, he'll press to deny federal funding to cities that don't comply with federal immigration law.

Nah, must be a typo or misunderstanding. OR, it could be just another set of lies? So many choices, which one is true?

stay with me to the end and don't knee jerk it

what if...just...what if this is a slip, what if...

Donald Trump, who has for a long time before identified himself (even though he hasn't acted as one always)
as a democrat

what if, he took a look at the republicans and went 'oh shit that'll eff us up big time'
took a look at his bank account and went 'i can do something here'
and decided to be the biggest baddest undercover troll out there

look at what he's done
marginalized the other repubs
diminished their media coverage by eating it up himself
put taxation of rich on repub plate
definitely drawn attention to racism in the rank n file

just like freepers come into this forum to disrupt, what if he decided to do the same to the republican runner ups

i doubt it, but then again, i hated S.Snape in the first books too :-p

probably just me overthinking it

This is all a big game to him. The question is, was the game designed to actually become the president? I doubt it, since it was such a long shot (at least at the start). So why DID he run? Probably just to feed his huge and hungry ego.

Could it be that his racism is a farce? The wall with Mexico a joke?

More likely he is just a big asshole. But it is interesting to wonder, given what's happened to the primary race since he burst into it.
