GWB probe: Trial of two former Christie aides delayed until March

A federal judge has postponed until next year the trial of two former associates of Governor Christie’s who have been indicted in the George Washington Bridge scandal, Bill Baroni and Bridget Anne Kelly.

U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton said their attorneys have “numerous documents and materials that … require adequate time to review,” according to an order signed Wednesday. U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s office and attorneys for Baroni and Kelly jointly requested the delay.

The start date had been scheduled for November but is now set for March 7, nearly two and a half years since the traffic jam in Fort Lee. The delay means Christie, a contender for the Republican presidential nomination, will be able to campaign during a crucial stretch without the backdrop of criminal proceedings involving two former associates in high positions.

By March 7, Republican caucuses or primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and 17 other states will have taken place. Those early contests often – but not always – decide the GOP’s presidential nominee.

it's very often referred to in traffic reports as the "GWB" so when I see GWB I know it's the bridge.

Christie is soon to be a has been but he has a few cards still to play to vent his frustrations on the progressives. Based only on my opinion but when he gets his marching orders from the RNC he is going to cut deep as he can with a butterknife into the demo candidate and Trump if he is still a factor though after the upcoming debate Trump might not look so good.

It's been two years since this has happened and the trial has still not happened, then it gets pushed another half a year. Political favoritism run amok is what it is.
