Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina turned the tables on Donald Trump after he said her face makes her unelectable.

Rather than sidestep the putdown, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO cleverly turned it into an asset, encouraging a National Federation of Republican Women audience to do exactly what Trump commanded: “Look at that face!”

“Ladies, look at this face. This is the face of a 61-year-old woman. I am proud of every year and every wrinkle,” Fiorina said to roaring applause, kicking off her speech Friday night. “And look at all of your faces. The face of leadership … in our party, the party of women’s suffrage.”

Fiorina, the only woman running for the GOP nomination, has been rising in the polls and made the cut for the next primetime Republican debate Wednesday; her campaign picked up momentum after a strong performance in the party’s first JV debate.

1. Donald should take a cue from Carly

Have some work done, Donny. Sure, Carly doesn't look young, at least not young enough to make you want to jump her bones, as you do your daughter. But look how smooth her unwrinkled forehead is. And she has no chicken neck or double chin. And the areas under her eyes are completely free of sags and bags. Come on, Donny. Just do it. You won't look so grumpy and scowly all the time.

2. Two things...

First, I don't think that Fiorina has had any major cosmetic surgery like a facelift or necklift. Maybe she's had filler, I have no idea.

Second, I don't think her response to Trump is especially effective - it seems to be engaging on his level, keeping focused on body appearance.

She's still not in the top 10. She "made the cut" only because CNN changed their criteria specifically to include her (so there will be 11.)

"Rising in the polls" is easy when you're in the basement. "Picked up momentum" means she purchased more ad time, so she gets mentioned more often. That's how they sell ads these days -- buy more ads and we will mention you more often.

A related aside: This morning on NPR, the saccharin Scott Simon had a segment about Carson which he stared with, "from single digits to front runner." Um, OK. Whatever.

22. Thanks for the link. Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose Party supported women's right to vote but

that can certainly not be claimed as heritage by today's Republicans.

You know,I have to tell ya, it just doesn't make any sense. I mean when you look at it at face value, it really makes no sense. To be perfectly honest and at face value, I really thought Carly was smarter than the rest of those clowns .
She came on like a real bull and managed to climb up into show time leaving the kiddy clowns behind, I thought that was good and I thought she deserved to be on the same stage with me, ,somewhere off into the distance, off at the ends on one side or the other.!

So what does she do, I 'll tell you what she did, she came out with the other jerks to say bad things about me. So what happens to those fools that say bad things about me ? I'll tell you what happens, they drop in the polls ,they flop out.

I thought Carly was smarter the those other clowns , a real Bozetta she is. So what is CNN gonna do ,put Bozo on one end and Bozetta on the other ? Hua, Christie and Carly !

"the party of women's suffering" given the present state of the Republican party's aims and actions towards women.
