NBA MVP Moses Malone dies at 60

Source: ESPN

Three-time NBA MVP and Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Moses Malone has died Sunday at the age of 60.

Malone, named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players, was the Finals MVP as he led the Philadelphia 76ers to the 1983 championship.

The 6-foot-10 center, nicknamed the "Chairman of the Boards," averaged a double-double while playing for eight teams over 20 NBA seasons and led the league in rebounding six times. The 12-time All-Star averaged 20.6 points per game and 12.2 rebounds over his career.

A lot tougher on the body long-term, that we normally think or worse, admit.

perhaps it is with one's height and over all weight (one cannot avoid a geometric weight gain with height). This is sad.

It's appalling to me the number of athletes in various sports who die relatively young. I wonder what checks they're writing that their bodies won't be able to pay later.

that the 76s dominated the early 80s Lakers in the NBA Finals (swept 4-0 in 1983). Being a Lakers fan I hated that series, but I admired that man - he was a great. Most Series in that era were competitive, but not that one.

In some ways, better to lose a series 4-0 than lose tough one like 84 Finals...

I liked the Sixers to....Much rather LA lose to Philadelphia than Boston or Detroit..

I remember watching that series and I wonder if we will ever have a team like that here in Philly again.

So sorry to hear this, R.I.P., and condolences to his family.
