Clinton pledges crackdown on campus rape

Hillary Clinton pledged to confront rape and sexual assault on college campuses if elected president, at a Monday speech at the University of Northern Iowa.

“As president, I’ll fight to make sure every campus offers every survivor the support she needs and will make sure those services are comprehensive, confidential and coordinated,” she said, adding that sexual assault survivors include men and the transgender community.

“Rape is a crime wherever it happens and schools have an obligation. I think it’s both a legal obligation and a moral obligation, to protect every student’s right to get an education free from discrimination, free from fear.”

That legal obligation falls under Title IX, which protects against sex discrimination in all federally funded education programs, as well as the Clery Act, which mandates crime reporting and certain resources for survivors.

Noting a recent Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation poll that found that one in five women reported being sexually assaulted during college, Clinton outlined the need to shore up services for survivors as well as bolster “prevention efforts to change attitudes associated with violence.” She said that the issue “is a lot bigger than a single conversation at freshman orientation,” while praising the work of those striving to address the problem.

reporting. Some of the writers need to go to prison for LYING. They have no facts to back up there claims against Clinton. The MEW Times needs to be destroyed. It is much worst then Fox News.

base.

I'm not saying that Clinton is new to this issue (she's not -- she has a long and respectable history here). I'm just saying that politicians who "triangulate" make a special effort to appeal to those voters who are drawn to the alternatives. Because Sanders is so good on progressive issues, this forces a triangulation toward the left.

Even if Sanders does not get the nomination (and every day that becomes less and less of a long shot), Sanders has won because he has indisputably affected the debate and moved it in a progressive direction.

4. There are other forms of campus violence too

hazings and assaults are not as many or as visible as rape, but they are there

and schools try to downplay to have better statistics and therefore a safer school

image. Violence against minorities, lgbt's, foreign students, even out of state students

are not unheard of. Alcohol is a perennial problem need it be said.

out of spite

Or try to stop people from going to college. They already speak condescendingly about verbal consent and claim liberal heathens promote hookup culture.
