Teen accused in New Mexico homeless killings takes plea deal
Sep 16, 3:13 PM EDT

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- A 16-year-old charged with two others in the beating deaths of two homeless Navajo men in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has taken a plea deal.

The teen pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder and related charges in an agreement that caps his potential sentence at 20 years. However, the deal offers the possibility of release when the teen turns 21.

. . .

Prosecutors say the three teens killed 44-year-old Allison Gorman and 46-year-old Kee Thompson in July 2014.

Police reported cinderblocks were among the things the 15-year-old said the trio used to beat the men for over an hour.

was released after 4 years, when he turned 18. His accomplice served less than 2 years, and was released at 18 as well. They were about the same age as these three. They used a gun, but dead's dead.

There's something seriously wrong with our society . . .

...and picked the youngest to testify against the two older suspects, who will be tried as adults for murder. This isn't necessarily a failed justice system, but may be a real lack of physical evidence sufficient to convict all three.

The treatment of the original people here has always been strangely vicious, barbaric, inhuman. It will NEVER make sense.

A whole lot of people are going to have to face their consciences one day, and it won't be pretty.
