Suspect Arrested in Arizona Freeway Shootings, Governor Says

Source: NBC News

A police SWAT team on Friday arrested a suspect in a string of shootings along an Arizona freeway that have put drivers on edge over recent weeks, the governor said.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced the arrest on Twitter at around 6:59 local time (9:59 p.m. ET), with a post that began: "We got him!"

Police did not immediately provide details. A spokesman for Ducey said the arrest occurred at a Walmart. A press conference was scheduled for later Friday evening.

YES, A Domestic Terrorist!

I hope justice prevails and the shootings stop. We do not need a copycat!

Wait, I have a second thought maybe sheriff Joe can send him to Gitmo.

Journalists use the criminal's full name to distinguish them from other people with the same first and last name.

Leslie Allen Merritt Jr.'s Facebook page, confirmed by his father, indicated he worked as a landscaper and was a gun enthusiast, but there was no indication as to why he might have been shooting at cars on the freeways.

The Facebook page shows a video of the suspect firing a rifle with a young boy at his side. The page also contains a series of pro-gun and anti-government posts.

the suspect claimed his gun has been in a pawn shop (where it was found) for 2 months so he couldn't have used it.
I suspect he wouldn't make that claim if he doesn't have paperwork to prove it, but maybe he is nuts.
But then again if he is the shooter he would be stupid to pawn it.

I hope the Police didn't arrest someone just because they needed to make headlines.

Maybe someone at the pawn shop let someone borrow the weapon.

I hope they got the right person though.
